Carolyn Harriet Partridge, age 95, of Sterling, passed on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Rock River Hospice and Home.
Carolyn was born March 1, 1926 in Sterling the daughter of Alvin and Alice (Wiemken) Duprey. She was the eldest of seven children. Carolyn married James Partridge on May 14, 1965 in Sterling. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2018. Standing only 4’10”, her grandchildren called her “Little Grandma” or “Grandma P”. Carolyn had many medical obstacles early in her life but never let them get her down. They just made her more determined and stronger. She had many professions, working in the medical field, as a cosmetologist at Chesters Department Store in Sterling and also at Walgreens. She was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Ladies of the Elks. She and “Jimmy”, as she called him, loved to dance. Carolyn was also a gifted seamstress.
She is survived by one daughter, Sheryl Hall of Rock Falls; two step daughters, Carolyn Spencer and Patty Partridge both of Rock Falls; step son, Gary Partridge of Peru, Ind; grandchildren, Scott (Patty Stombaugh) Hall, Curt (Keri Stover) Hall, Kelly (Bob) Frieberg, Nicole (Ryan) Varga, Brian Wechsler, Jared Wechsler, Shawn Longanecker and Derek Simpson; step grandchildren, Stephanie (Jim) Preston, Kim (Jeremy) Brower, Julie (Greg) DeVault, Jason (Sherrie) Mickelson, David (Peggy) Mickelson and Tony Partridge; and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers; two sisters; one daughter, Sharon (Don) Simpson; one son, Brian Wechsler; step son, Randy Partridge; son-in-law, Gary Hall; and step grandson, Jamie Partridge.
A gathering of family and friends, for a maximum of 50 people at a time, will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling. A private memorial service will follow. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
A memorial has been established to Rock River Hospice and Home.
