Thousands Signed Up, A Few Hundred Doses Per Week, LCHD Says It May Take Months to Vaccinate Everyone

Lee County Health Department Executive Director Cathy Ferguson Allen recently told the Lee County Board that people are very anxious to get their Covid Vaccinations.  But, she said people are getting impatient and that will not help.

She went on to say it will take a long time to get through the list of 1b category.  This list is several thousand people long and the department is only getting a few hundred does a week.

Ferguson Allen was also asked about when people will be called to get their shots.  It was said that many people in the community is asking if the list is alphabetical and that determines when they get their shots.  Ferguson Allen said she could not speak for KSB Hospital, but, for the Health Department it all depends on when you sign up.

Ferguson Allen reported they have the capacity to give many more vaccinations then they currently are.  It was then pointed out that Lee County is in the same boat as everyone else.  This being a lack of doses being sent to the county.
