The City of Rock Falls no longer has to ask, “Where is the Money”? The money in question has finally arrived and was passed out to the five local businesses who has waited over 10 months to get it.
Five local Rock Falls businesses last year applied for the Down State Small Business Stabilization Grants. The state said this would help businesses pay bills while the pandemic shut them down. Over the past 10 ½ months the city and the businesses have jumped through every hoop tossed their way from the state.
The money has finally arrived and the city passed out the grant money. The city is hoping they will have better and faster luck in regards to another grant the city is trying to get says Mayor William Wescott.
The city is looking for around $125,000 to put back into Rock Falls Tourism. The grant is designed to repay cities for the money they spent on the pandemic. The local business grant money had to go to the city first before being given to the 5 businesses.
