Local Lawmakers Express Frustration and Disappointment in Governor’s Budget Proposal

Following Governor JB Pritzker’s $41.6 Billion budget proposal on Wednesday, local lawmakers expressed their disappointment in the budget plan.

State Representative Tom Demmer points to the tax incentives the Governor referred to as Tax Loopholes.  Demmer said the Governor put those incentives in that he now wants to eliminate.  At the time it was hailed by both parties as a way to promote economic growth.

Demmer also said the financial problems the state has started before the pandemic and yet the cuts the Governor asks for never seems to go anywhere.

State Representative Tony McCombie says she is frustrated to report another year of broken promises.  She accused the Governor of having a blatant disregard for children and schools.  Representative McCombie says no amount of money is enough for state spending, because they continue to fail to pass structural and political reforms, remove layers of government and create an environment to grow the state out of financial nightmare.
