The Lee County Health Department and others have been working as hard as they possibly can to get vaccinations to people in the county for Covid-19.
During the Lee County Board meeting Thursday night, Health Department Director Cathy Ferguson Allen gave a report in regards to how well the system is working. Ferguson Allen said they have begun with those in the 1B category. She also said over the past week nearly 900 persons have been vaccinated. She warned not to expect that many every week due to vaccine shortages.
During the upcoming week, the Health Department will begin administering the second dose for those who have received their first vaccination. Ferguson Allen said that will double their work load. There is hope, however, that a single dose vaccination will soon be available.
Ferguson Allen told the County Board how proud she is of the staff and the amount of work they have done to get people their vaccinations. It was also pointed out that January 31st will mark the one year anniversary on the virus being found in the Sauk Valley.
