Sterling and Rock Falls Fire Crews Spend Wednesday Morning Putting Out Cimco Fire After it Was Rekindled by Winds

The Sterling Fire Department announcing the fire at the Cimco Recycling Center at 13509 Galt Road had been extinguished and crews are no longer on scene, as of noon Wednesday.

Wednesday morning at approximately 615 the Sterling Fire Department, along with Rock Falls Fire Department and CGH EMS, were dispatched back to Cimco Recycling. The smoldering fire, left from the fire the night before, had once again lit up due to the winds in the area.

The original fire is under investigation; however Deputy Chief Mike Dettman advises the fire originated in a pile of materials waiting to be recycled. No damage to any buildings or equipment at the facility was noted.
