For the past couple of years the biggest social event in the Sauk Valley has been the gathering in February for the Chocolate Rendezvous. This is hosted by Sauk Valley Community College.
The event is the one fundraiser held for the college. Organizer Dr. Lori Cortez said last year they had over 800 person come to the event and they hoped to break the 1000 mark this year.
This was all before the pandemic struck and although Cortez is hopeful that the rendezvous can still happen sometime this year; they still have to wait until the Governor said all is normal again.
Cortez said they are still making plans for the rendezvous, but, she could not give out too many details. One of the ideas she could talk about was having a drive thru rendezvous. Cortez described it as a time when guests would drive to certain locations around town to pick up meals as well as get a healthy portion of chocolate.
