Mary Rose (Parker) Zopf of Sterling and formerly of Dixon, peacefully passed away of natural causes on Sunday, December 13th, 2020.
Mary Rose was born on August 9th, 1921, to Walter and Rose (Brechon) Parker, in Dixon IL. She married Richard Zopf, who preceded her in death on December 22nd, 1995. She lived her entire life in Dixon, and loved telling stories about the changes she had witnessed over all the years. Mary Rose was a hard worker, always providing for her family, and was always ready to lend a hand where needed. She loved hard and lived life to the fullest. She was genuine and honest, and never had a problem with speaking her mind. Mary Rose loved gardening, puzzles, coffee, and talking to every and anyone. Faith played an important role in her life. She belonged to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and was very involved in the Catholic Women’s Club. Mary Rose is survived by two daughters Beverly (Jan) Francque, and Margaret Lawson; seven grandchildren Mark (Kim Weidman), Michelle Burns (John French), Todd (Melissa) Francque, Jeff Lawson, Denise Garcia, Danielle (Mike) Lahey, and Ben Francque; 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; brothers Walter, Vernon, Willard; and sisters Helen Segneri and Rita Schamp. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2020, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. There will be a Celebration of Life for Mary Rose on Saturday, August 7th, 2021, where we will celebrate her 100th birthday with a mass and party following. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Grade School, Dixon, IL. Thank you staff at Avonlea Cottage of Sterling, and Regency Care of Sterling, for taking such great care of our Mother/Grandmother, these past few years. She enjoyed each and every one of you. “Mom/Grandma-thank you for your kindness, wisdom, and presence all these years”!!
