Steven M. Bierdeman, 61, passed away Thursday, Dec 10, 2020 in Dixon, IL.
Steve was born on December 10, 1959 in Aurora, IL, the son of John and Marie (Hedeen) Bierdeman. He attended Moody Bible Institute where he met his beloved wife, Ruth. Following graduation from Moody, they were married at Ruth’s family farm in Nazareth, PA on August 3rd, 1985. Together they attended Northern Illinois University and graduated, both with bachelors in education. In 1988, they moved to Sterling, IL where Steve began teaching at Whiteside Area Career Center (WACC). He later received his masters in education from National Louis University. Together they raised their five sons in Dixon – Paul, Peter, David, Nate, and Ben. Steve retired from WACC in May 2020 after 32 dedicated years of teaching and mentoring students in machining and welding. Steve was active in church throughout his life and loved his Lord and Savior. He dedicated countless hours to children’s ministries and his adult Sunday school classes.
Steve was heavily invested in his family and took great pride in all their accomplishments. He loved spending time with his friends and family and his contagious laugh could fill a room. He spent countless hours coaching his sons in baseball, soccer, and basketball and will be remembered for the enthusiasm, competitive spirit, and life lessons he brought to the games.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ruth; his father John; his siblings Ruth, Paul (Marti), and David (Brenda); his children Paul (Anani), Peter (Kelsey), David (Tamara), Nate (Tori), and Ben; grandson Jensen (David and Tamara); nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his mother Marie Bierdeman.
We grieve that we shall no longer see him on this side of eternity, but we are confident in the hope that we will one day be reunited in Heaven! We celebrate his life and the legacy he left behind.
