The Western Big 6, on Monday, announced that its boys and girls basketball seasons are on hold and won’t begin on Monday November 16th. This includes Sterling, Geneseo, Galesburg, Moline, Quincy, Rock Island, United Township and Alleman.
Quincy Superintendent Roy Webb announced on social media that this decision was based on student safety and the growth of COVID cases in all the communities.
The Peoria Public Schools board voted 5-1 to suspend the district’s participating in basketball this winter. This decision comes about a week after the Peoria Catholic Diocese announced its Catholic schools would not being playing basketball this winter.
