A couple of weeks ago the City of Rock Falls made the big announcement that it was selling to Surf Air Wireless about ¾ of its fibernet. The city had decided that in the long run it was not feasible or cost effect for the city to operate the system.
The final approval of the sale was to be handled at the most recent City Council meeting. This did not happen as the ordinances and resolutions for this were pulled from the agenda. Mayor William Wescott said Surf Air Wireless has been very understanding about the whole situation.
Wescptt said some of the paper work and documents were not completed on time and that is better to vote on approval of the sale after everything is in order. Mayor Wescott said he was confident at the October 6th City Council meeting the deal will be finalized.
