Bike Rentals is Part of the Plan if City Receives Build Grant

Rock Falls Tourism recently began its bike rental system and this program seemed to inspire one Dixon Park District Board member to say the District needs bike rentals in Dixon.

At this time Executive Director Duane Long announced in the Build Grant application the city recently applied for includes a bike rental system.  The Build Grant comes from the Department of Transportation and if the city is successful it would be used to build a pedestrian bridge over the Rock River and additional trails.

Some of the new trails would be in Page Park.  The trails would help runners and bikers the chance to travel with both the north and south parts of the city.

Long was asked what happens if someone does not return the bike.  He stated the app you need to rent a bike has all your information on it so law enforcement knows who to look for.

Long stated he had firsthand knowledge of how the system works.  He explained that he and his family have rented bikes several times while they have taken family vacations.
