Lee County Board Decides to Give a Little Relief for Property Tax Payers

If you have not already, you should be receiving your property tax bill from Lee County in the mail very soon.  The payments are in two installments and the due dates are June 26th and September 2nd.

The County Board determined they needed to provide some sort of relief to tax payers who may find it difficult to make the payments during the pandemic.  The board voted at their most recent meeting to give a 30 day extension for paying your first installment.

If you pay the installment up to July 26th you will not receive any interest or penalties.  After July 26th interest and penalties will apply and the board said they will evaluate at that time if any other actions will need to be taken.

The Old Lee County Courthouse is closed, but, residents can drop off a payment through a first floor window said County Chair John Nicholson.

The preferred methods are payments online or by mail.  You can also make your payment at any bank in Lee County.
