Incident in Rock Falls Leads to Arrest of Person Wanted on Several Warrants

Whiteside County Sheriff John Booker stated while looking for one vehicle they flushed out another person the deputies had also been looking for.

According to Sheriff Booker, Deputies had been on the look out for a vehicle Thursday evening and they found it.  When they pulled the vehicle over it was at the entrance to the Crystal Lake Apartments.

At that time another person known by authorities to have several outstanding warrants, reportedly came from the apartment, got into another vehicle and fled the scene at a high rate of speed.  The suspect fleeing the scene was one Chad Payne.  According to Booker, Payne fled down US Route 30 in Rock Falls, tried to make the turn at McNeil Road and end up crashing into a telephone pole.

Following the crash, Payne is said to have fled on foot but was apprehended by the Whiteside County K-9 unit.  Payne was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant.

Additional charges are pending and more information is forthcoming said Booker.  Assisting at the scene was the Rock Falls Police, Lee County Deputies and the Illinois State Police.
