Because of recent public health events, the 2020 Rock Falls Tourism event season will undergo some changes.
The Tourism committee has voted to cancel Food Truck Fridays and the Big Cat Quest slated for this summer. The decision to do this does not come lightly but when discussing public health, the Governor’s plan to Restore Illinois, as well as budgetary considerations, the committee says it is better to cancel these events, while restructuring and coming back bigger and better for next year.
All parties involved (vendors, etc.) with the events are being/have been sent information on how we will proceed where they are concerned.
The Tourism Committee also decided that they would still try to move forward with the Art in the Park event on September 5th, and the newly implemented Lumberjack Show and Beard Contest in October at Selmi’s Family Farm.
The Committee says they are currently working on plans to continue to expand the Art in the Park event to include any and all types of artists to display their artwork, as well as plans to install new sculptures in the park. These events are still in the works and are being redesigned and planned in a slightly different way with optimism that we will be able to go forward with large community gatherings when fall arrives. Updates will be sent out as soon as they are available.
