Sterling Mayor Says City Received More Complaints About No Yard Waste Pickup Then They Did About the Roundabout

Whenever you bring up the subject of the roundabout the city of Sterling wants to build it gets a great many negative comments from residents.  However, Sterling Mayor Skip Lee said the response from residents when Republic Services announced due to Corona Virus they would not pickup yard waste and bulk items left the roundabout in the dust.

Republic has resumed picking up yard waste and bulk items.  Mayor Lee said they even have a yard waste bin you can rent.  The rental on the bin is $60 a month and in Mayor Lee’s opinion, this is a little high.

He said he is talking to Republic to see if the fee could be lowered.  Mayor Lee sees advantages for Republic if they lower the fee, such as more rentals leading to less chance of drivers hurting themselves and picking up yard waste easier.

Without the bin, residents need to put grass clippings and other yard waste into approved brown bags or a container marked with an X.  If you have branches that need picking up they need to be in a 4 foot bundle that is tied together.  With a yard waste bin Republic would pick up whatever waste you can get into it.
