Oregon High School Participating in the Be The Light Movement

The Oregon High School athletic department along with many of its fellow schools in the Big Northern Conference will be participating in the nationwide #BeTheLight movement this Friday evening, April 17.

At exactly 8:20 PM (20:20 military time), the stadium lights of Landers-Loomis Field (as well as other fields in the Big Northern) will be turned on for exactly 20 minutes. “Be The Light” is an initiative to support student-athletes who have had their season taken from them because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The hope is that the football field lights shining in the dark can be a beacon for the community representing not only hope but the idea that we are all in this together.

Students, families and community members are welcome to drive by Landers-Loomis Field on Hawk Drive during this time to view the light. All persons should remain in their vehicles at all times and maintain appropriate social distancing norms.

The Be The Light movement is being done at many schools in the Big Northern Conference and all across Northern Illinois.
