The Dixon Public Works Department is still on the job serving the citizens during these times, but, they are doing it a bit differently these days.
According to Public Works Director Matt Heckman crews are active, but, they have taken precautions to make sure if someone gets COVID-19 they do not have to quarantine an entire department. Heckman said they have broken each department into groups of five.
If for example there is a water line break one group of five will do the repair and they are the only ones allowed on that job. Heckman admitted they needed to take some creative actions to keep every department going, but, he said some day things will get back to normal and so will the department.
Heckman also said they have some members of the department who are working from home as well. Crews are using their normal PPE equipment on the job and Heckman said that will not change.
