Sauk Valley Courthouses Closed to the Public

Area courthouses are closing their doors to the public in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.

In Lee County Presiding Circuit Judge Jacquelyn Ackert issued an administrative order (Admin Order No. 2020-11) restricting access to the new courthouse to only those individuals from the public who are a “party” to an essential or emergency court proceeding. Visitors who are only present to observe a hearing will not be permitted to enter the courthouse.

In Ogle County no member of the public is allowed into the Judicial Building.  The only exception is by specific order of the judiciary.  The Judicial Building is working with reduced numbers of judges, clerks, State’s Attorney Staff, security and court reporters.

In Whiteside County the courthouse in Morrison and the Eastern Brach Court Facility in Sterling is limited to visitors by appointment only.  Visitors will be screened for any sign of COVID-19.
