In a few months the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department is hoping to follow in the footsteps of the Lee County Sheriff’s Department. This would be the showing off of their new jail facility.
Sheriff Brian VanVickle said they are 50% completed and they are under budget and ahead of schedule. He said this new jail will be a big step up from what they are used to. He spoke of the dedicated areas the facility will have. One of those would be the video room where an inmate can make a court appearance, meet with visitors or even take in a church service.
He said now they will have proper separation cells as well as areas for mental health and a separate area for physical needs.
Other areas added to the jail include a proper booking area, administration rooms and other amenities for the people who work in the jail. The plan calls for the jail to be completed and moved into sometime this year.
