Donald “Don” Deforest Lowry, Jr., 61, of Grand Detour, IL, died Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon.
Don worked for CBRE as a HVAC technician prior to his passing.
Don was born January 14, 1957, in Dixon, the son of Donald D. Lowry, Sr. and Mary Anne (Docter) Lowry. He was a member of many organizations in Dixon including: the Dixon Elks Lodge #779, Moose Lodge 727, American Legion Post 12 and VFW Post 540. Don’s personality would fill a room; he was the life of the party and because of this no one was a stranger to him. He could be found riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle in his free time, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends, including his beloved dog Lillian.
He is survived by father; Donald D. (Nancy) Lowry, Sr. of Spring Valley; his mother Mary Anne (Randy) Stage of Dixon; three sisters Bonnie Lowry of Dixon, Rita (Pete Niles) Barnett of Hinckley, Christine (Rick) Bollman of Dixon; brother-in-law Bruce Christensen known as his brother from another mother of Dixon; niece Amanda Lowry and nephew Jacob (Maggie Morrison) Lowry both of Amboy, nephew Landon Bollman of Dixon; girlfriend Shannon Schrader and her son Lukes Schrader of Grand Detour and many friends.
Don is preceded in death by numerous grandparents, aunt, uncles and cousins.
Per Don’s request, there will be no services, cremation rites have been accorded. Don lived life to the fullest and was always the life of the party. Therefore, please join us in a Celebration in Don’s honor. We will raise our glasses to toast the life of Don Lowry, because that is how he wanted it to be. The Celebration will take place 2:00pm on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Porky’s Bar and Grill.
