Joann M. Levan, 89, of Dixon, died Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Joann was born July 22, 1928, near Harmon, IL, the daughter of Joseph F. and Grace F. (Henry) Payne. She married Raymond M. Levan on May 5, 1948, in Harmon, IL. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2004. Joann was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dixon, Dixon Elks Lodge P.B.O.E. #779, and the Murray Grey Association. She enjoyed making birthday and wedding cakes and made her own birthday cards. She also enjoyed working with animals and taking care of her farm.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Levan; special grandson, Dale Levan; two sisters, Lorraine Untz of Oregon and LaVonne Gibbons of Florida; one sister-in-law, Judy Payne of Florida; one brother-in-law, Russell Levan of Grand Detour; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and Denise Levan.
Joann was also preceded in death by her son, Dennis Levan; her parents; one sister, Donna O’Brien; and two brothers, LeRoy and Edward Payne.
Visitation will be from 3-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, followed by a 7:00 p.m., Rosary service. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, June 29, 2018, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dixon, with Father Keith Romke, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
The family would like to thank everyone at Serenity Hospice, Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center, and Dr. Timothy Appenheimer for all the wonderful care that they provide for Joann during her recent illness and her time at the nursing home.
Memorials have been established to Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon or Granny Rose in Dixon.
