Over the past couple of years the City of Dixon has developed numerous ways to communicate with the citizens. These have included the City Website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and recently, a You Tube page.
Dixon City Manager Dan Langloss said they are trying to be as transparent as they possibly can and inform the public is many different ways. During the Dixon City Council meeting Monday night, Manager Langloss spoke of another information tool the city is looking into. This would be the development of a City App.
Langloss called it another way to reach the people where they are. At the moment, the idea is in the research stage, said Langloss.
Langloss said an app would provide the city with a way to quickly get information, announcements, emergency alerts and such to the community. It is also a two way street and it would let the community communicate to the city concerning issues, infrastructure needs and even pay bills.
Sterling rolled out their app earlier this year. Mayor Skip Lee said it took almost two years to develop, but, it has worked well for the city and for the residents.
