At Least One Confirmed Case of Whooping Cough Found in Polo Schools

The Polo School District has confirmed one case of Whooping Cough has been found in the district.  On Friday, the school district sent out a letter to parents warning them their student may be been exposed to the disease.

Pertussis is an infection of the airways that is easily spread through coughing or sneezing.  The symptoms can include coughing fits and vomiting.  Following a coughing fit, when the victim breathes in they make a whooping sound.

The Ogle County Health Department earlier had confirmed 8 cases found at the Oregon High School.  If someone has the symptoms they need to contact their physician or the Ogle County Health Department Immediately.
