Tuesday night a tornado tore through Sioux Falls South Dakota causing significant damage. Fortunately, there were no reported deaths or injuries from the storm.
The reason this storm is of interest in the Sauk Valley was because who was in Sioux Falls that night. Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle and others were there on business. VanVickle was there to take a look at a possible computer system for the department.
The sheriff said the storm was about 2 miles away from where he and the others were staying. The Sheriff called it a wild night.
VanVickle has had his share of tornados. Back in 2015 a tornado roared through parts of Lee, Ogle and DeKalb counties causing major damage and claiming two lives. The sheriff lost his own home in that storm.
