Questions of who is actually in control of the Historic Dixon Theater may have finally been put to rest. Other questions about what the future of the historic building may have also been answered.
Recently, the executive board for the Historic Dixon Theater Group was installed and they seem to have hit the ground running. Councilman Mike Venier was instrumental in the formation of the board. He said the group got the good news recently of receiving their 501C3 tax exempt status.
According to Venier, with this status the county will be able to turn over responsibility for the theater to the group and ending any question of who is in control of the theater.
Venier said with the tax exempt status people will be able to make donations to the theater. This is something that has not been available to people in the past.
Venier stated the group is looking to have productions and events at the theater that will make the theater a vital economic and cultural tool for the city.
