It Took a While, But, Polo PD Finally Got Their Man

After a months-long investigation regarding the burglary of the Polo Wash Center (laundromat) on October 3, 2018, Polo Police Department have obtained an arrest warrant for Jessie R. Whaley, 38, Freeport, for the offense of Burglary, Theft, and Criminal Damage to Property.

Police Chief Jon Mandrell would like to thank the many other agencies that contributed to assisting the department in identifying evidence beyond the City of Polo that led the department to Whaley and also to former Chief Curt Cavanaugh for his persistence in the case prior to his retirement in May.

Whaley is currently in custody with the Illinois Department of Corrections, where he is serving a sentence for separate offenses. The investigation is ongoing as it is believed that more than one suspect was involved in the incident.
