Two Persons Killed in Accident on I-39 Monday Afternoon

The Illinois State Police (ISP) investigated a two-vehicle crash involving two fatalities on Monday at 2:38 p.m. on Interstate 39 southbound.

A vehicle driven by 50 year old Moo Ler of Rockford was driving northbound on Interstate 39 when he lost control and crossed through the center median into the southbound lanes where the auto was struck by a truck tractor/semi-trailer driven by 51 year old Kenneth B. Miller of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Ler and his passenger, 51 year old Leonardo Lozano of Rockford, were both pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ogle County coroner. Miller was uninjured.

Interstate 39 was re-routed for about four hours. The ISP was assisted on scene by the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, Ogle County coroner, Stillman Valley Fire Department,
