Driving in Rock Falls May Be a Nightmare Over Next Few Years

It is Summer time and this also means it is road construction time. The City of Rock Falls has some road projects planned, but, the Illinois Department of Transportation also has begun their major projects.

The road work has and will create headaches for people trying to get around the Rock Falls and Sterling area.

Rock Falls Mayor William Wescott says people will just have to slow down and keep cool to get through it.  However, the mayor is concerned all of the work, especially the work on Avenue G Bridge, will have a negative impact on such events as Summer Splash.

The mayor said they were recently informed by IDOT road work will begin in August along Route 30 and 40. Crews will be repairing the roadway and putting in new curb and gutters.

If this was not bad enough, in 2020 the Route 30 Bridge will be closed and replaced.  The mayor says people always want their roads fixed, but, when it happens they hate the headaches it causes.
