Sterling Teen Charged With Firing a Shotgun Inside a Residence

On Saturday evening, May 18 Sterling Police responded to a call of a possible gunshot inside a residence.

Responding officers discovered a hole in the wall, which separated two residences.  Officers determined the hole was made by a shotgun round.  The adjoining residence was occupied at the time, but, there were no injuries.

Detectives identified the shooter at 18 year old Edwin T. Meiners of Sterling.  On Thursday Sterling Police arrested Meiners for possession of a firearm without a requisite firearm owner’s ID card, reckless discharge of a firearm and reckless conduct.

Meiners was taken to the Whiteside County Jail.
