No Wake Ordinance In Effect on Rock River in Lee and Ogle Counties

A “No Wake Ordinance” is being put into effect in Lee and Ogle Counties as the result of all the rain, flooding forecasts and substantial increase in the current flow rate.

In addition, buoys marking the dam cannot be put out due to the condition of the river.

Sheriff Simonton is strongly encouraging everyone to stay off the river until further notice. 17.5 feet is forecasted for Sunday, which is approximately 5 feet above the flood stage.

Dangerous conditions will make navigation and rescue operations virtually impossible.
