Rock Falls Water Dept. to Conduct Fire Hydrant Flow Tests

Rock Falls Water Dept. to Conduct Fire Hydrant Flow Tests

Beginning June 3, 2019, weather permitting the Rock Falls Fire Dept in conjunction with the City of Rock Falls Water Dept will be conducting fire hydrant flow tests as per NFPA 291 Recommended Practice for Fire Flow Testing.

Fire flow tests are conducted on the water distribution systems to determine the rate of flow available in various locations for firefighting purposes. The City is divided into 4 Zones (A-B-C-D) Currently Zone “B” is due for flow tests this year.

The area is identified as all hydrants from the River South to Route 30 and 1st Ave. west to City Limits Clearwater Drive.

Please be aware that this may cause discolored water and possible staining of clothing. Testing will be starting on June 3rd until completed from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Discoloration of water may affect different areas of the system.

The City request that laundry be completed after 6:00 p.m. or when the water is clear. Please check before using. If you have any questions, please contact Public Works @ 815 622-1108.
