Two Persons Injured Following Sunday Evening Motorcycle Accident

Just after 6pm Sunday Ogle County Deputies responded to a single vehicle motorcycle accident on West Illinois Rt. 52.

It was determining that a southbound motorcycle being driven by 55 year old Mike Elvin of Ashton traveled off the west edge of the roadway. The motorcycle then overturned multiple times before coming to rest in the west ditch embankment.

Mike Elvin and a passenger on the motorcycle, 44 year old Carla Elvin, also of Ashton, received injuries from the motorcycle as it overturned. Mike was transported to KSB Hospital by Polo EMS for treatment of injuries. Carla was also transported to KSB Hospital by Polo EMS where she was then flown by helicopter to Mercy Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

After an investigation into the accident, Mike Elvin was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was also cited for Improper Lane Usage and Failure to Reduce Speed to avoid an accident.
