Doesn’t Happen Often, But, Dixon School District Receives Money Instead of Paying Out

Usually when Grounds and Maintenance Director Kevin Schultz comes before the Dixon School Board he is telling them of how much money the district will have to spend to get a project done.

This past Wednesday night during their monthly meeting the board was listening to a report from Schultz.  One of the topics he brought up was some money the district will be receiving, not paying out.

Schultz said they recently received a payment on an insurance claim.  This claim was made after they found asbestos under the floor in the gym.  The floor was being fixed following a roof leak and now the school will be getting back about $100,000.

The other bit of change the district has received is from a ComEd Energy Grant they applied for. This was in context with the improvements and repairs being made at the schools.  Schultz said they have received about $150,000.

All of the money will be put back into the funds to repair and improve the schools.
