Friday evening at the Elks Lodge in Dixon it was the annual Night to Remember Reagan.
Every year around the former President’s Birthday the Lee County Republicans come together to remember and honor Dixon’s favorite son, the 40th President Ronald Reagan.
The event had a packed house and the event had a bit of a twist to it. Instead of this being an exclusively Republican Event, organizer Lee County State’s Attorney Matt Klahn decided to make it non-political with the hope of Democrats and Independents attending as well. State Representative Tom Demmer said there were some Democrats in the audience and the cause of the event was something everyone could get behind.
The main thrust of the evening, besides remembering Ronald Reagan, was to raise money to help maintain and repair the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home. All of the proceeds will go to the Historical Landmark.
Senator Brian Stewart was also in attendance and he said the legacy and vision of Reagan is still very much alive.
