If Rising River Water Threatens Dixon High School They Say They Are Ready

Rising water levels along the Rock River in Dixon is being closely watched by several .

The Dixon High School closed Lincoln Statue Drive due to the river level.  This will remain closed until further notice.  There have been reports the river may reach 18 feet before it begins to recede.  The flood stage at Dixon is 16 feet.

With these levels the possibility of water reaching the basement of Dixon High School.  Grounds and Maintenance Director Kevin Schultz said they are watching the river and hoping the ice jam breaks up.  However, he also mentioned they are ready with sand bags and pumps if needed.

The Dixon Park District has also closed Lowell Park.  They say it will be cleaned up before it is reopened.  It is also reported most of Page Park is closed as well due to flooding.
