Dixon Park District Doing More to Get Noticed by Community

The Dixon Park District is seeking to get more into the sight of citizens of the surrounding area.

One of the steps taken recently was the hire of a new Marketing Director.  Executive Director Duane Long says he feels not enough people really know what the district has to offer and getting this information out will be the Marketing Directors job.

In another step, Long said they have approached Dixon Chamber and Main Street about helping more with their activities and events.  The park district already helps with some things, such as benches for Petunia Festival and the Catfish Tournament, but they would like to get more active.

Other areas the Park District is seeking to be more involved with will include the city market, Blues, Brews and BBQ’s and with as many other events as they can, said Long. He stated the district is looking to be more of a face with all of the events in Dixon.

He went on to say they are currently looking to fill a couple of high profile positions.  With the retirement of Terry Shoryer the district is seeking a new Recreation Director.  Long called this position the face of the district and more important that even the Executive Director’s position.  They are also seeking a Museum Director.  Both positions are posted on the district’s website.
