Demmer Hopes a Bipartisan Effort Will Prevail in New 101st General Assembly

Wednesday in Springfield the new 101st General Assembly was sworn into office and with this State Representative Tom Demmer took the oath for his fourth term in the House of Representatives.

In the House in Springfield the Democrat Party holds a super majority with a 74-44 advantage over Republicans.

Demmer, however, struck a bipartisan tone.  He said the state faces many challenges, but out best work takes place when we set partisanship aside and work collaboratively.

Demmer is the second highest ranking Republican in the House of Representatives. He was elevated to the position of Deputy Leader in 2018 after previously servicing as the House Republican Caucus Chair.

Demmer said he is finalizing a legislative agenda that focuses on improving access to health care services, protecting taxpayers, and improving government operations.
