Area Law Enforcement will be taking on a more rugged look for the month. This is time for the No Shave November and officers, troopers and deputies will be staying away from the razor and letting the facial hair grow.
In Oregon the Police Department will be giving regular updates on their facebook page of how the growth is coming along. Officer Matt Kalnins is heading up the donation efforts for the Oregon Police Department and he says they are doing something a bit different this year. Last year the department raised several thousand dollars for cancer research. Kalnins says this year they decided to go more local and raise funds for the KB Tough Run. This is a local group which helps people burdened by medical crisis.
Kalnins said they have all of the officers in the department involved, including their only female officer, Kristine Tresnow, who wanted to help and may sport a fake mustache from time to time.
Kalnins said if you want to donate you can stop in at the Oregon Police Department or you can go to the website kbtoughrun.com and click on donate.
The Dixon Police Department is also participating in the No Shave November and they are raising money for the American Cancer Society and the United Way of Lee County.
Kalnins says promising to make a donation may not get you out of a ticket, but, saying something nice about their beards…..well you just never know.
