Senator Tim Bivins Encourages Families to Tell the State About Their Veterans

Do you have a member of your family who has served or is serving in the armed forces? If you do Senator Tim Bivins of Dixon feels those individuals need to be honored and shown respect for their patriotism and sacrifice.

Senator Bivins is also encouraging everyone to not just let the local area know about it, but, the entire state.  Bivins says you can send a photo and a brief tribute to the veteran in your family to Springfield and it will be placed on the Wall of Honor in Capitol Rotunda.

Bivins says there are many families who have many members who have served and a way to honor those who are serving.

To make a submission you can send a photo and a written story of no more than 250 words which contains the name, military branch and the conflict they served in.

The tribute can be emailed to veterans@sgop.ilga.gov or it can be mailed to Veterans Day Wall in Springfield.  It must be there no later than November 5th.

Bivins says visitors and school field trips visit the Capitol all the time and this is a way for them to see and show respect to all of our veterans who gave so much for our freedoms.
