The United Way of Lee County put their money where their mouth is so to speak as they kicked off their fundraising campaign a bit differently this year.
In years past the organization would hold a special luncheon with sponsors, agencies and organizations getting a pep talk and the goal to reach. Co-Chair of the campaign this year, Deb Trancoso said they wanted to have an activity instead of a luncheon.
At Sauk Valley College over 250 members of agencies, organizations and volunteer’s package over 15,000 meals which will go towards helping to stem hunger is Lee County.
Trancoso said there are several places the meals will go to in Lee County and all of them will stay here.
After the meals were packaged it was announced to those in attendance the goal for this year’s campaign. The goal they are aiming to reach is $415,000 which will be used to help fund several agencies in Lee County.
