Sauk Valley Community College was one of 76 literacy providers who will get a share of $4.7 million in Adult Literacy Grants to develop and enhance students reading, math, writing and English language skills.
Secretary of State and State Librarian Jessie White made the announcement Thursday. The Adult Literacy Office awards grants in the categories of Adult Volunteer Literacy, Penny Severns Family Litracy and Workplace Skills Enhancement Project.
Sauk Valley College will receive $39,817 for Project Vital. Vital stands for Volunteers in Teaching Adult Literacy.
